Do’s And Don’ts After Scuba Diving
Diving and witnessing the underwater
beauty are very exciting and will be a wonderful experience. Scuba diving is an
amazing thing you can do in your life. Before Scuba diving, you have to get training, and for the more positive feedback, you can join Divemaster Eco Course Nusa Lembongan. Aside from the amazing feedbacks, there
are things that you should keep in mind so that you won’t experience any side
effects after Scuba diving. Knowing what to do and what you should not do after
Scuba diving is basics to keep you safe. Here are things you should do and not
do after Scuba diving.
What you should do:
Drink much water
Scuba diving is considered as a heavy
activity that will take a lot of energies. Therefore, it is a must to keep your
body stay hydrated. You have to drink enough water after Scuba diving or you
will not be well-hydrated. You have to drink much water once you get out of the
ocean. Keep your body to stay hydrated is more important than you think.
Decompression sickness is one of the illness that often experienced by Scuba
diver and dehydration is one factor that can cause it. So, drink for around 2
liters of water to prevent it to happen.
Eat enough nutrition
Scuba diving will burn calories as
your body will work hard against the water pressure to see many sea creatures like Manta Rays in Nusa Lembongan. Thus, you need to eat
enough nutrition to balance everything. Moreover, before diving, the diver
usually restricted to eat heavy meals and only should eat light meals. That is
why most of the times, the diver will feel hungry after a day of diving. Yet,
although if you are extremely hungry after Scuba diving, you should still try
to eat healthy meals. Eating salads or any other meals that contain vegetables
and fresh fruits, and also foods that contain enough calories will be great.
What you shouldn’t do:
Drinking alcohol
Decompression sickness has been that
major problem that Scuba diver needs to avoid. It is because when you Scuba
diving, you will take extra oxygen along with nitrogen. Hence, the body needs
to eliminate the excess of the nitrogen, and drinking alcohol immediately after
diving will interfere with the process. Drinking alcohol can overcome
dehydration fast but don’t drink it immediately after getting out of the water.
If you really want to drink alcohol, try to wait some hours after diving.
Flying
It is already well known among the
scuba divers that flying after scuba diving can risk the diver. In this case,
the pressure inside the cabin of the airplane is the culprit. When you are in
an airplane, the air pressure is decreased and this condition is similar to
fast ascension while diving. And when someone ascends too fast, the excess
nitrogen will turn into bubbles in the blood and this can cause a serious
problem. Therefore, you need to wait for the proper amount of time before
flying.
Mountain Climbing
Along with flying, as mountain
climbing also changes in altitude that can trigger decompression sickness, it
is strongly suggested to not climb the mountain after diving. If you want to do scuba diving in Nusa Lembongan or the other dive sites and also climbing the mountain, it is safe to climb first and then
you can dive.
